Charities are trying to change the world in a world being changed by technology.

The pace of change brings enormous opportunity — and risk.

It’s far easier for people to keep up with new technology than institutions. Especially institutions whose work carries responsibility, safeguarding obligations, and lives at stake.

Authentic Intelligence exists to bridge that gap.

We're a boutique consultancy that helps charities use AI safely and effectively.

We work with organisations to assess their current AI use, identify risks and opportunities, and provide practical guidance on next steps. We also train teams and help leaders make informed decisions. For organisations that need it, we design and build custom AI systems that work only from your trusted knowledge, not the open internet.

We've worked in both the charity and technology sectors for decades. That means we understand the realities that are unique to nonprofit work—board oversight, funding constraints, safeguarding obligations, and what it means when lives are at stake.

Consultancy & Training

Teams are already using AI. Leaders are being asked to make decisions about it. Nobody's quite sure what's safe, what's realistic, or what the actual risks are.

We help charities get clear on AI through briefings that explain what matters and what doesn't, training that focuses on real workflows instead of theory, and support in setting boundaries your teams can actually use. Often the real problem isn't AI—it's that your information is scattered or inconsistent.

We help you sort that out first, so the answers people need are easier to find and trust.

Custom AI

A custom-built AI is the difference between one that might confidently say the wrong thing — and one that only says what your organisation has agreed is right.

Most AI use in charities happens at an individual level: staff using their own accounts, or separate accounts paid for by the organisation but not connected to each other. That can be useful. But the moment an organisation wants to rely on AI—internally or externally—the requirements change.

Generic organisational accounts mainly manage access and privacy. They don't control how the AI behaves. So it doesn't know which information is authoritative, gives different answers to different people, and can't reliably apply your policies, safeguarding boundaries, or tone.

Custom AI solves this. One shared source of truth, clear boundaries, and consistent behaviour your organisation can stand behind.
